After taking over as President after his father, William E. Russell in 1979, Bill, a life long Buffalo resident, is the third Russell to take the reigns of the Heritage team since 1916. Involved in the family business since graduating from Norwich University with a Bachelors of Arts in 1967, Bill has had a variety of roles at Heritage throughout the years. At present, he oversees the day to day operations of the business, and is involved in every aspect of the business from operations to administration. But Bill’s first love lies in sales and project management of Heritage’s specialty flooring segment.
From 1997 to 2005, Bill was the Regional Director for the North Central group, while the company was owned by Spectra Contract Flooring. He oversaw nine locations throughout upstate New York, with a total annual budget of $50 million.
In December of 2005, Bill and Don had the opportunity to purchase the company from Spectra Contract Flooring, and was able to bring the company back to its original owners and continue the companies ‘heritage’ in the Western New York area.
Bill serves on the Board of Directors of Cherry Hill Golf Club and is a Past President of the Tennis & Squash Club.
